WebVista to Moodle Transition by Summer 2012
The CMS Search group recommended that the University of Minnesota not renew its WebVista license and instead focus on Moodle as the sole centrally-supported Course Management System (CMS). This is being implemented by the Office of Information Technology (OIT). The University will stop using WebVista by the end of summer term 2012.
To ensure a successful transition, OIT has established a task force to guide the transition process. This task force includes th CMS Steering Committee and the Academic Technology Advisory Committee (ATAC). To learn about the decision process, see the CMS Search site. For WebVista-specific questions, see the WebVista to Moodle Transition page. If you have If you have any further questions, please contact the CMS Transition Group.
Instructors: Request Course Sites
Instructors, please fill out and submit the Site Request Form for each semester-based site you need. The following may cause delays in creating your site:
- Incorrect information, including instructor listing, in the online class schedule. Make sure your department has updated the registration system with the correct information for your class.
- Requests to copy sites without owner permission. If you are not an owner of a site you wish to copy, and the owner will not have access to the new site, then an owner must e-mail permission to webvista@umn.edu before the site is created.
Maintenance: 2nd and 4th Sundays, 9 a.m. to Noon
To provide the best possible performance of WebVista, the systems may be unavailable the second and fourth Sunday of every month from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for regular maintenance. These downtimes often take much less time than the alloted three hour window. Check the University's System Status page for status updates.
